Elder | firstname.lastname@example.org
Ian was born in Redmond, WA and grew up in the suburbs northeast of Seattle. Following high school, he attended Prairie Bible College to study Bible and Wilderness Leadership dividing the time studying between the campus in Alberta and Camp Bighorn in Montana. After graduating, he attended the University of Washington to study communications and medicine, living with a wonderful community of believers and benefiting from very intentional mentorship. The Lord led then led Ian to continue his education in preparation for ministry at Moody Bible Institute’s Aviation program in Spokane. He met the love of his life, Leslie, in 1996 at their junior high Youth Group at church. They started dating in high school and grew closer to each other and the Lord through their shared interest and participation in several mission trips and camp counseling experiences together. After graduating from the University of Washington, they were married in 2004 in Bellevue, WA. They have three adventurous kids, a nine year old daughter, Avery, a seven year old son, Gentry, and a five year old daughter, Daisy. Ian grew up in the church and had a deep desire to learn about the Bible and hear stories from missionaries about their service oversees. He was led to the Lord by his mother after a week of VBS when he was 4 years old. After graduating from Moody Aviation and a few years working in Seattle, he returned to Spokane to serve at Moody Bible Institute as a flight instructor, a job he finds very technically challenging and rewarding as he's given a chance to see young men and women develop their God-given talents for ministry to the ends of the earth. He and his family began attending Shiloh in 2012 and he was elected as an Elder at the start of 2017.
" I consider it a great privilege to pass on what I have heard from my predecessors, and set an example for others in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity."
"Serving as an Elder is a high calling. I am humbled by the responsibility and it is a weight that you never set down. My parents named me Ian after a missionary who died as a martyr and Timothy as a reminder to grow strong in the faith and serve as a leader and example. Like Timothy in scripture, I was blessed with godly parents and wise mentors that have encouraged me in my walk with the Lord. In this season of my life, I consider it a great privilege to pass on what I have heard from my predecessors, and set an example for others in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity." Ian loves being with his family whether it is a quiet evening at home reading and playing together, or outside exploring the wild places of the world. They love camping, hiking, and making memories together as a family.
We are so grateful to have him on our team! If you want to get to know Ian better, have questions, or would like to send him a note of encouragement, you can do so by sending an email at the link below.
