Elder | firstname.lastname@example.org
Ian was born and lived in San Diego, CA until the age of four when his family moved to Shell, Ecuador as missionaries with HCJB for 6 years. They then moved to Kenya, Africa with AIM for another 2 years of missionary service until coming back to the states in Summerville, SC where he attended high school. Following graduation, he attended Moody Bible Institute Chicago and graduated in 2004. He met the love of his life, Lela, when they were kids as their mothers were college roommate in the 70's and had become great friends. Lela's family had 4 girls and Ian's family had 5 boys so something was bound to happen! At the end of Ian's time in college, they started dating long distance and were ultimately married on July 2, 2005 in Estacada, OR. They currently have three kids, all adopted from Spokane, an eight year old daughter, Megan, a six year old son, Cole, and a four year old son, Tate. The couple have been well involved in the foster system here in Spokane, fostering a number of kids through the years, and currently have a one year old foster boy, Jake, who they are hoping to adopt soon. Ian grew up in a solid Christian home and gave his life to Jesus when he was four years old but made his faith firmly his own in his high school years. Ian and Lela moved to Spokane in 2005 to become a Flight Instructor Intern in MBI's Missionary Aviation Department, then becoming a Flight Supervisor and currently serves as Director of Flight Operations.
"I wanted to serve as an Elder as an opportunity to learn from other wise men how to lead the church well."
The couple began attending Shiloh while living with Ian's brother who went to the church and lived in the surrounding neighborhood. Ian has been an Elder at Shiloh in the past, serving from 2012 to 2014. He took a year sabbatical and then rejoined the Elders in 2016. During those years, he has served as Secretary, Vice Chairman, and Chairman. "My goal as an Elder is to lead and serve the body of Christ at Shiloh Hills Fellowship and “…spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24) I am excited about our vision to make, nurture and inspire Christ followers. I wanted to serve as an elder as an opportunity to learn from other wise men how to lead the church well." Ian enjoys spending time with his family, usually outside camping, hiking, or riding bikes and also enjoys working on his yard, house, and doing projects with other people.
We are so glad to have him on our team! If you want to get to know Ian better, have questions, or would like to send him a note of encouragement, you can do so by sending an email at the link below.
